RSS Feeds and Pageflakes

RSS Feeds allow people to stay up-to-date on news. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It uploads regularly updated info. Websites have these so the users do not have to swim through the internet going into multiple websites.

Pageflakes is a site where people can upload their own RSS Feeds so they can just go to their pageflakes account and get all of the news they want and connect blogspot.com to pageflakes and create blogs about anything.

Stuntman Ignition

Stuntman Ignition is a racing game, but instead you are a stuntman. You must complete certain tasks throughout a level and get ranked on a rating of 1-5 stars. The more stars you get, the more stuff you can unlock. The levels are from parodies from Hollywood movies, like Batman and Dukes of Hazard.

First Reaction: fun, intuitive, fun when you get high strings, original, good idea

After a while: you start to see what the cons are, but what the cons are as well

Pros: good driving, stunts are fun, the constructor is fun, the levels are not all alike, the levels get steadily harder, the controls are easy..

Cons: the difficulty of getting 5 stars on different levels is variated, to get 5 stars you don't need to get points, just string the stunts together, the physics are sometimes messed up, the ice levels are impossible on the first try.

Overall: 8.5/10

Does Wii Fit work?

Does the newest best-selling game actually work? The National Obesity Forum is now calling for children to stay away from Wii Fit, because it is misleading and has no true results. I think that the game would be cool and would get it if I could find it in any stores. All these review talk about is the yoga part and no other parts. It seems that they are out to make Wii Fit out to be a bad game, because of the yoga. All games have some bad part, but they still aren't bad games. Nintendo is trying to put its attention on to younger and older age groups with Fit, Brain Age and other games, but critics are still bashing on the game. At least Nintendo's trying to do this.

http://www.gamesradar.com/f/does-wii-fit-work/a-2008052310535700064 for more bashing on one part of the game.

DX Studio

This is a 3D modeling program that I found. It has an online library that isnt too big but it has some cool things on it. The tutorials are really helpful on, but changing from the tutorial page and the program gets annoying. The program is the first one that I've used and I think it's pretty good.

360 tops 10 million units sold in the US

Microsoft has now officially sold 10 million Xbox 360 units. The 360 is the first next gen console to sell over 10 million units. People wonder if Microsoft has a chance to end the heat of the console war. But some people complain that Microsoft had a whole year head-start but thats just kind of stupid, because they don't have to wait for the Wii and PS3 to come out. But the Wii is closing the gap and has yet to let of steam and slow down on the sales. What I think is funny, is the arguments over the 360 and PS3, the first in the console war and last, and which is better, when the Wii is starting to catch up, and the Wii is more family oriented and aimed towards the whole crowd, young to old. The funny part is, if the PS3 was better than the 360, then why isn't it winning? I actually think that the Wii is going to surpass the 360 but the PS3 is going to lose steam.

Bioshock movie

The Bioshock movie is now official. Not much info is given out but the director is Gore Verbinski from The Pirates of the Carribean, and the writer is John Logan of Gladiator (one of my favorites). I still wonder if this is a joke because I have not heard much on the subject.

Blu-Ray is dying

The sales on the Blu-Ray Players are tanking. Some people thought that when Blu-Ray won the format war, that the sales would sky-rocket. Guess what? Nothing of the sort happened. They thought people would forget about the defects of Blu-Ray and help Sony. The players are too expensive and have 2 major defects to them, just for better resolution.

Game ratings

These are 10 things that I think should be used in game ratings:

1. Quality of the game

2. Story

3. The leveling up system or progression

4. Physics (how good they are, based on the game)

5. the variety of weapons

6. side quests or minigames

7. Different Enemies (same enemy but new and better gun......... too easy, enemies should have different abilities and weaknesses and strengths.)

8. The difficulties and easy parts in the game are varied

9. The goal is not defined in the beginning and is slowly formed during the game, unless the game depends on it.

10. The game sticks to the genre and is believable

GTA IV having problems

The new Grand Theft Auto 4 is having problems the VERY FIRST DAY. The game freezes on the PS3 version only, and people have reported that even reinstalling the program does not fix the program. Honestly, I don't really care because I hate the PS3 and the GTA series. The game does not work in either 20 or 60 gig PS3's.

Devil May Cry 4 for PC

The highly anticipated Devil May Cry 4 will be coming out for PC, featuring new modes, enhanced graphics, and additional content. Game speed can be sped up for faster gamers, and Legendary Dark Night mode will harness the computer's advanced processing by filling the screen with enemies.

Note: I don't know why 'highly anticipated' is added to titles, because it's almost on every game now-a-days.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Beta Delayed

Fans are not too happy that the MGS 4 Beta has been delayed and they have been looking forward to playing the game that people say will beat the Xbox 360. It might come out on the 360 so I might get it. People must keep their vouchers until April 22, 2008, and can enjoy the beta for longer because of the delay. The beta will become void November 5, 2008.

The NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX Overclock

Graphics cards can easily overclocked these days because of programs that can be bought. The best overclocking card right now is the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX. But when overclocked, the graphics cards work 10% better.

Microsoft releases new firmware

This firmware is aimed at making the HD DVD drive on the Xbox 360 better with compatibility. This is surprising because Microsoft officially disowned HD last month. The firmware will automatically download when a person starts watching an HD movie and has Xbox Live.

N-Gage

http://www.nokia.com/A4136001?newsid=1206899

N-Gage is a program that is made for mobile games, that will help the user try, buy, and manage mobile games. This is compatible with any S60 3rd edition device from Nokia.
My thought is that this will help people who don't know how to handle mobile games, but not people who have them figured out already. Nokia right now is the leader in driving the transformation and growth of the ever-expanding internet and mobile technology.

IPhone

I think that it could happen, but it is kind of late to start because Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are so far away from it. I think that Apple is losing because the PC is destroying Macs and Apple is staying on with the cell phone. The IPhone is small and probably easy to lose but that is also an advantage. I think that the IPhone would get its payment out of 15-25 year olds because that is where all of the fever is at for cell phones and gaming. I think the DS is the best. Not the best graphics but its held my attention the longest and the touch-screen is revolutionary on a gaming system.

More News and responds to previous comments

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23800152/
This news is about the subject of "Is PC gaming dying out?" Many people think that it is dying and giving way to consoles. Others think that online gaming will be the future of PC gamings. I think that PCs will be extremely hard to beat in the subject of gaming. Many jobs need computers and if a person can go buy a game for the PC, that they already have and need, that would be easier and cheaper. That would cost about $20-$60. But they would have to go buy a console and a new game just to play the game. That would cost about $400-$600 now a days. Plus internet gaming is relatively cheap and you have to pay a lot more for console online and you still have to pay for downloads (unless Valve gets their way) and PC gamers don't have to pay.

I had only briefly heard about Jack Thompson before I read the article.
I do think that games are art because art uses color, texture and all art components that games do. Is that a reason for games not to be art? Games need designers and they are technically artists because they create all of the levels and character models.

Meanwhile, Microsoft buys Danger

While everyone was busy reading about the Microsoft and Yahoo engagement, Microsoft went and bought Danger, the makers of the popular Sidekick cell phone. People wonder why Microsoft would do this. Two questions have been asked; Is this Microsoft's answer to the IPhone? Is it an answer to Google's android? People hope that it is the latter of these questions. Basically, Microsoft just bought a money-losing company. They might be wondering if under new supervision, it might start making more money. Technology

I can use all technology well, and I know some kinks that most people don't know about, but I don't really have a specific genre of tech that I like better than others. I'm pretty spread out.
I don't know as much about computer modding as I would like to but I have modded Half-life, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2. I don't know about Hammer Editor except that I would like to use it for map-making in Half-Life.
I'm interested in console gaming, but I like to mod games like half-life on g-mod (Garry's Mod).
I would like to learn more about computer programming.
I would like to go to college to become a vet, or a doctor. If not I would like to become a programmer. I would use computers, calculators, x-rays, ultra-sounds, etc..., and laptops.

Digipen

The Requirements, Policies, and the summaries of the class are important.

What is expected in C programming?
What is different in C than in what is in FUN Editor?

UNEXCUSED ABSENSES and tardies will be marked down as a zero for the day. Outside activities will not affect the grade if it is EXCUSED.

C

Three of us will be doing C programming. I wanted to get farther in video game making and I guess I did get what I wanted. I don't know that much about C programming but I also didn't know about Digipen and I think I got good at it.,
