This news is about the subject of "Is PC gaming dying out?" Many people think that it is dying and giving way to consoles. Others think that online gaming will be the future of PC gamings. I think that PCs will be extremely hard to beat in the subject of gaming. Many jobs need computers and if a person can go buy a game for the PC, that they already have and need, that would be easier and cheaper. That would cost about $20-$60. But they would have to go buy a console and a new game just to play the game. That would cost about $400-$600 now a days. Plus internet gaming is relatively cheap and you have to pay a lot more for console online and you still have to pay for downloads (unless Valve gets their way) and PC gamers don't have to pay.
I had only briefly heard about Jack Thompson before I read the article.
I do think that games are art because art uses color, texture and all art components that games do. Is that a reason for games not to be art? Games need designers and they are technically artists because they create all of the levels and character models.

Its been known for a long time that PCs cannot be beaten.
The problem, though is not gameplay, but development.
Remember, the average power between two computers is about 100x these days. The good part is that computer that's 50x more powerful is usually only a couple hundred dollars more.
Also, multiplayer and cost of consoles is far better. True, the games on consoles are usually cheaper, but the console costs on average about 25% as much as a good gaming PC, which is a lot of money to spend on games.
Also, us PC gamers are still stuck without good matchmaking and still have to do server selecting.
I believe the PC will never die as a game platform as it (in some form) will always exist and are often more powerful than a console.
They're so much more difficult to deal with though. Install and play often requires settings changes, different hardware etc ... the console is just so easy.
What's good is the competition ... with Wii, Xbox, PS3, PC all competing we will continue to get innovations like the Wii controller and PS3's outstanding graphics capability.
Competition breeds a better user experience.

The Xbox 360 GPU is comparable to and Nvidia 8800, and the PS3 is pretty much exactly the same, with a little better AA.
