IPhone

I think that it could happen, but it is kind of late to start because Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are so far away from it. I think that Apple is losing because the PC is destroying Macs and Apple is staying on with the cell phone. The IPhone is small and probably easy to lose but that is also an advantage. I think that the IPhone would get its payment out of 15-25 year olds because that is where all of the fever is at for cell phones and gaming. I think the DS is the best. Not the best graphics but its held my attention the longest and the touch-screen is revolutionary on a gaming system.

Apple is gaining market share right now. Also, Macs are the only machine that will run both PC and Mac software.

One benefit of the iPhone is that it's the first handset that will continue as a product into the next and future versions. People are putting a great deal of effort coding for this one phone. No one focuses on any other phone so much.

The iPhone is a touch screen as well ... what it lacks is normal buttons of any kind.

It will have a user base of 17 million units by the end of 2008. That's a great many people with this potential gaming platform already in hand (hence for these existing iPhone users, it's a free hand-held gaming platform ... use the iPhone I own, or buy a second device?)

Only because not many people have realized that Apple has a monopoly on their drivers.

Doesn't the DS have a user base of over something like 40 million?

Please try and find the DS user base. I was unable to in a brief look.

Anyone can write a driver for a Mac ... where they were smart is limiting who can make a Mac (and thus the components that go into it.) When you code for a PC you need to code for ANY of 100's of video cards, 100's of hard drives, etc. On a Mac you only have to code for the one video card you know it has. This is also why they are more stable.

Whether or not people realize that Apple is the one that disallows PC's to run OSX does not matter ... the fact is, only a Mac can run both Windows and OSX.

Also ... I found a link saying the DS had a user base of 700,000 in Australia alone, so the 40,000,000 mark is a pretty good guess.

Interesting, I'm totally unimpressed with the DS (but I like graphics.)

How can you be unimpressed with the DS? Its awesome!

700,000 in Australia alone? Wow.

The problem with Macs is that there is no customization. You get a packaged set much like a gaming console, and you can't do anything to make it better, or set for gaming any better. Also, there is no choice. You get the set, and that's it. You can't customize it. You can't choose whether you want it for office work or gaming.

The whole iPOD iPHONE thing is lame. iPODs are too small. They're thin--they break and their warenties are poor. The DS is a good platform for handheld, anyway. though, you have to remember that color was revolutionary on the GBC and it didn't last all that long. But the average life of intrest (consol wise)is about 8 months MAXIMUM.

Maslab ... but the "set" you get is the fastest current laptop when running vista (in the case of the macbook pro.) No the Mac Pro (the tower) you CAN customize.

Starr ... again ... I think if people have iPhones already in pocket ... it's not that we have a BETTER gaming platform, what you gain is some 10 - 20 million people that now have a platform in hand. No you just need to offer them the right games ... like Spore. Would it convert a DS or PSP player ... certainly not.

How, much can you customize, for curiosities sake?
